What Are Plantar Warts?

Are you suffering from plantar warts and wanting to know about it and also learn the methods of getting rid of it? Yes I know you are and I once had suffered the pain and discomfort plantar warts can cause. Ok I know you want to know what a plantar wart is so I'l give you a short definition taken from wikipedia.

A plantar wart (also known as "Verruca plantaris") is a wart caused by the human papillomavirus occurring on the sole or toes of the foot. Plantar warts are usually self-limiting, but treatment is generally recommended to lessen symptoms (which may include pain), decrease duration, and reduce transmission.

So as said, a plantar wart or plantar warts are caused by a virus ( HPV ) that thrives on the soles of our foot and in between the toes. Since these warts infect the outermost layer of the skin, pain and discomfort are the most common symptoms of having infected with plantar warts. You might also wonder why these plantar warts create a hard flower-like bulging material with black spots in and on it? The flower-like bulging material is actually hardened skin and the black spots that you see are hardened blood.

Where is the plantar wart's actual location? Just beneath the bulging material - deep in it. The so called "root or roots" of this plantar wart is buried beneath the bulging material and even grows bigger if left untreated. When this happens, it can cause terrible sores and extreme discomfort. This may not be life threatening but the pain and discomfort can surely make your life difficult. There are lots of medications provided in the market but only too few are likely to be cheap and effective.

How do you get infected with plantar warts? Plantar warts are highly contagious and can even survive even outside of the hosts' body - that is us. Having your feet in contact with moist and dirty surfaces can have you catch an infection. Repetitive and constant exposure of your feet to such condition can exponentially increase the risk of catching plantar warts. To make things simple, avoid walking or having your feet in contact with dirty and moist surfaces. Shoes with weeks-long soiled socks are perfect for breeding your planter wart pets.

How to avoid plantar warts infection? As said earlier, these tiny virus loves moist and dirt - so keep away from dirt and moist surfaces. There are also places which plantar warts love to hang out.
  • Public swimming pools
  • Foot rags
  • Your roommate's school shoes
  • Brother's smelly flip-flops
  • Shower room
  • Or just anywhere like having the mixture of ambiance of the "tropics" and "wetlands".
Remember that plantar warts are contagious so avoid rubbing your feet with your wart-infected friend unless you love having it. If in case you unfortunately got one, avoid rubbing and have it in contact with your other skin areas or else you'll have other places in your body be infected as well. You don't like that don't you?

What is then the most effective remedy for plantar warts? Do you want an affordable remedy or the expensive one? I know we all want the most affordable or yet the best, a free treatment for plantar warts. But let us first mention some costly plantar warts treatment which maybe you'll be interested at. Laser therapy, cryotherapy, immunotherapy treatments are best preferred by people who doesn't want to leave scars or with little scars after the treatment. There might be instances where people choose this type of treatment for the fear of losing a job or being detached in social groups. These treatments are very effective but, really expensive as well.

Darn yeah we can't afford it so how to treat plantar warts effectively and cheaply? You might have guess it right...uhuhh...a duct tape and salicylic acid. Yes this almost insane (would not call it real insane because it really does work!) though there are a lot who hail these wonderful treatments. Many have tested and tried these procedures and it really does work! I got rid of my plantar wart using a duct tape just two months ago!
